06/07/2009

Aberlour has been successfully selected as the nominated charity for Dunblane Hydro Hotel in Perthshire.  The children's charity recieved a generous cheque for over £6000 which had been raised through party nights at the four star hotel.

Dunblane Hydro said:

"We were delighted to nominate Aberlour Child Care Trust as the chosen charity for the funds raised during our Party Nights at the Dunblane Hydro.  This year we raised £6311.76 and a cheque for this amount was presented by Tricia Fitzsimons, the General Manager, to the charity recently.  The hotel had decided that, as a Scottish charity, it was important to support the work of Aberlour amongst children and young people."

The presentation was made in the newly-refurbished bar in the Dunblane Hydro which is currently being totally refurbished at a cost of £12m.  The bar and the Stuart Lounge have already been completed and the restaurant is currently being refurbished together with all the bedrooms in the hotel.  This is the first time the Hydro has undergone such a major refurbishment for many years.

Aberlour said:

"We are absolutely delighted to be Dunblane Hydro's chosen charity. The funds raised will go towards sustaining our important work with children and young people across Scotland. Aberlour works with children and young people who are living with a disability, parental drug or alcohol dependency, emotional behavioural difficulties or where the circumstances at home are so bad they are forced to run away. It's positive to see local funds being raised and we hope to encourage more of this activity in the future."
