Aberlour to benefit from restaurant launch
Oscar winning actor and director Peter Capaldi jetted in to the Highlands for the opening of Albert Roux’s new restaurant, Chez Roux at Rocpool Reserve, Inverness.
Peter Capaldi is an ambassador of Aberlour and met multi-award winning chef Albert Roux , who is is donating one pound from every evening meal at his new restaurant, to the charity from the 1st April 2009 for the next 12 months.
The highly acclaimed actor attended the opening of Chez Roux after flying in from the premier of his new movie ‘In the loop’, also starring James Gandolfini, Steve Coogan and Anna Chlumsky (released on 17th April), a spin off of the successful 2005 BBC comedy ‘In the thick of it’. During his visit he will meet Chef Roux, joined by Addie Stevenson, Chief Executive of Aberlour, to discuss the joint charity partnership.
Albert Roux said: “This is a double celebration - the opening of my first Scottish restaurant and the beginning of the partnership with Aberlour. It is my honour to support the work of Aberlour and in turn the children and families who benefit from the charity.”
Addie Stevenson, Aberlour Chief Executive, said: “As Scotland’s largest solely Scottish children’s charity, Aberlour works with over 6000 vulnerable children and young people every year who need our help to lead safe, fulfilling lives. I cannot express enough how much the support of Albert Roux and our own ambassador, Peter Capaldi, means to our charity. Aberlour’s partnership with Chez Rouz has the potential to raise a lot of money which will help to fund our vital services across Scotland throughout the year.”
Oscar-winning Scots actor and director, Peter Capaldi, said: “I’m delighted to support Aberlour’s charity partnership with the much anticipated Chez Roux restaurant.
“I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy a successful career in acting and directing which has taken me all over the world and allowed me to experience things I’d never imagined. Scotland will always be home to me and it’s a privilege to support a charity that makes such a tremendous difference to thousands of children throughout the country each year.
“Aberlour inspires children and their families to fulfil their ambitions and dreams, and I urge the public to support the charity so they can continue to build on the great work already being done.
“Chez Roux is a top class restaurant, a real hideaway in the city, and diners lucky enough to sample the delights created by Albert will be able to treat themselves safe in the knowledge that they’ll be giving something back to Scotland’s vulnerable children.”
