Beaverbrooks jewellers, based in Glasgow’s Braehead shopping centre has given a welcomed boost to Aberlour Childcare Trust by generously donating £1,400* to the charity.
Beaverbrooks is committed to supporting charitable causes and each year the company donates a share of its profits to a worthy cause. Staff researched charities in the local area and made a joint decision to support Aberlour this year. Aberlour is the largest solely Scottish children’s charity which runs 46 services across the country to help vulnerable children and young people.
A number of these crucial services are in based in Glasgow, including the only refuge for Scotland’s young runaways, which has recently received support for its Home Sweet Home campaign from a host of Scottish celebrities including Annie Lennox, Lorraine Kelly, Lee McConnell and Carol Smillie.
Pat Bertram, branch manager at the Beaverbrooks store in Braehead, said:
“Every year, my colleagues and I are able to choose a local charity we’d like to donate a percentage of the store’s profits to. As a foster carer I experience first hand how important it is to provide young people with the support and help they need at an early age, which is exactly what Aberlour does.
“Upon sharing my experiences of helping young people with my colleagues, we agreed that Aberlour should receive the donation in order to support them to continue the fantastic work they do every day for less fortunate children and young people in our city and across the country.”
Sanjay Singh, Aberlour’s Corporate Engagement Manager, said:
“We are extremely grateful for the donation from Beaverbrooks. It means a great deal to Aberlour to receive this kind of support from businesses in the local community. The staff at Beaverbrooks have been very enthusiastic about our services and the work we will continue to do for children in the local area and beyond.”
