Aberlour’s Ardfin Road service, based in Prestwick, has received a generous donation of £5000 from the Provincial Grand Lodge of Ayrshire, the governing body of 44 lodges throughout Ayrshire.
The donation will directly benefit the young people who attend Ardfin Road, a service which provides short break respite care, specialist play-schemes and general support for parents and carers with children with a range of learning and physical disabilities. The donation will enable the service to buy better play equipment and also go towards a therapy bathing experience for the young people.
Alan Miller, service manager of Ardfin Road, said: “We’re very grateful to the Grand Lodge for choosing Aberlour to receive their annual donation. It will make a real difference to the children and families we support which is fantastic.”
The money was raised by the 44 lodges throughout Ayrshire by Masonic members taking part in activities which included sponsored walks and competitive but fun bowling, fishing and golf competitions. The proceeds of these events being invested in the Provincial Grand Masters Charity Fund.
Archibald Chalmers, Prov. Grand Master of the Ayrshire Lodge, said: “Each year we nominate at least one new charity to receive the money we’ve fundraised, and we certainly had a lot of fun this year taking part in the activities we arranged!
“We wanted our donation to make a difference locally, so Ardfin Road seemed the perfect choice. We’re really pleased the money is going to such a worthwhile cause and will help make a difference to the lives of local young people who use and benefit from the service.”
