THE West End chapter of the world’s largest business referral group has made a contribution to Scotland’s leading children’s charity.

BNI Iomart (Glasgow) handed over a cheque for £200 to Aberlour Child Care Trust, the largest children’s charity operating solely in Scotland.

The group, which passes on business referrals among its members, made the donation following the charity’s Midnight Sleepwalk event.

The event saw hundreds of women taking part in a moonlit walk across the Forth Road Bridge and has raised more than £15,000 for the charity so far.

BNI member Richard Clarke, of Clarke Signs, said: “The wife of our member Jim Nicolson was taking part in the charity midnight walk and we decided as a group to sponsor her.

“Jim has been a BNI member for over 10 years so the group were very glad to help his wife and her chosen charity.”

BNI meets every Thursday morning at the David Lloyd club in Anniesland and is always looking for businesspeople to come to its meetings and visitor sessions.

With the aim of passing on word-of-mouth recommendations, the group is part of an international community generating business worth £245m worldwide.

Aberlour fundraising executive Sarah Nicolson said: “We’d like to say thank you to BNI Iomart (Glasgow) for its kind contribution towards our Sleepwalk total.

“Sponsorship money is still rolling in and we’re delighted to have raised more than £15,000 from the event.

“It’s also an honour to be connected to such a strong element of the Scottish business community and I hope we have an opportunity to work together in future.”
