The aim of the evaluation was to evaluate parenting support services and identify examples of good practice to inform future staff training and practice development. The Family Centre offers a wide range of services, however, the evaluation focused specifically on 3 parent and child support programmes.
1. A Nurture Group for socially and emotionally vulnerable children aged 3-5 which aims to build self-esteem and confidence.
2. An Infant Massage Group offered to all parents, based on theories of attachment and bonding.
3. A ‘Bumps ‘n’ Babies’ Group offered on a drop-in basis for all parents with, or expecting a baby. The group offers a mixture of formal talks on specific topics and informal discussion.
