Options Aberdeenshire provides assessment, support planning and direct practical support for children and young people with a disability and associated complex needs.

The service is targeted at the most complex and at risk situations and works to enable children to stay within their own homes and communities.

Service aim and what we offer

The aim of Options Aberdeenshire is to enable children and young people with complex needs to remain within their families and communities in Aberdeenshire.

This aim is achieved by:

• developing and providing flexible, individualised support services for children and young people with complex needs and their families ,
• working in partnership with other agencies including Education, Social Work and Health,
• ensuring children and their families are centrally involved in key decisions which affect them,
• enabling families to stay together if this is what they wish,
• providing alternatives to expensive out of area packages of support.

Outcomes

This service contributes to the following Scottish Government National Outcomes.

• Our young people are successful learners, confident individuals, effective communicators and responsible citizens.
• Our children have the best start in life and are ready to succeed.
• Our children live longer, healthier lives.
• The life chances for children, young people and families at risk have improved.

General service information

Options Aberdeenshire uses a person centred method of working that enables us to support the development and well being of children, young people and their families. By using this method families feel supported and strengthened in the task of caring for their children which creates positive outcomes for both the child and family.

Partnership and funding

Options Aberdeenshire works in partnership with external agencies including education, Social Work and Health to ensure children, young people and their families are centrally involved in key decisions which affect  them.
