Policy - Making a Difference

Aberlour works in Scotland to improve the life chances of over 6,000 at risk children and young people and their families.

We have over 130 years of experience in helping vulnerable children and young people to become confident individuals, successful learners, effective contributors and responsible citizens.

Through early intervention and continuing support each year we work with over 6000 children, young people and their families to overcome barriers such as disability, exclusion, dependency and family breakdown.

Aberlour is dedicated to influencing the development of national policy for the benefit of the children, young people and families that we work to support.  As the largest children’s charity working solely in Scotland, we have a wealth of knowledge and experience in many areas including parental substance use, residential child care, parenting, young runaways, youth work, inclusion in education and disability.  Aberlour uses this expertise to assist key decision makers in the development of legislation and works to ensure that a range of issues which we and our service users encounter are kept to the fore in the political agenda.
