Primrosehill Family Centre provides a ' core service' to assess and support parents with a learning disability, who have children aged 0 - 12 years. The Centre also provides an additional service called Families First.
Service aim and what we offer
The aim of Primrosehill Family Centre is to provide a high quality, flexible service that support parents with a learning disability to fulfil their potential, promote positive relationships and enhance family life.
This is achieved by carrying out parenting assessments using Parenting Assessment Manual Software 3.0 (Dr. sue McGaw, 2010) looking at what is required for 'good enough' parenting through assessing parental knowledge, skills and practice. Once completed, assessments are followed up with a range of supports and interventions tailored to the family's needs.
The aim of Families First is to provide a range of interventions to reduce the harms associated with parental substance use. Support can be offered to parents, children and extended family members on an individual or group-work basis.
