Volunteer Gardener-Options Lothian

Could you spare a few hours per week to volunteer in our garden? We’re looking for someone to develop and maintain a colourful stimulating outdoor space.

Aberlour Options – Lothian provides short breaks to children with disabilities and their families, including overnight respite, day-care and community based outreach. We also provide support young people in schools as well as in-house parenting advice and support.

 

What will I be doing?

  • Tree / bush pruning
  • Clearing leaves
  • Weeding
  • Maintaining flower beds
  • Maintaining and developing a garden space

 

What skills can I bring to this role?

  • Ability to maintain and develop a safe garden space
  • Good communication and listening skills
  • Non-judgemental approach

 

What qualities do I need?

  • Be enthusiastic, flexible and committed
  • Reliable and approachable
  • Friendly, helpful and understanding
  • Reliability and a commitment to treat all information in a confidential manner

 

When will I be needed?

  • Flexible
  • 2-4 hours per week
  • Minimum 6 month commitment required

Additional Information

Due to Health and Safety requirements you must be at least 18 years of age to undertake this volunteering role. For all roles involving regulated work with children and/or protected adults, Aberlour will require the applicant to submit a PVG Scheme Record or a PVG Scheme Record Update application. This opportunity is subject to the completion of satisfactory references and successful registration on the PVG Scheme.
