Who we work with
The Young Women’s Service works with young people aged 15-19. The service also works collaboratively with Falkirk Council’s Leaving Care Service providing additional and more intensive support which complements the work of the service.
Befriending
The Young Women’s Service Befriending Scheme is available to young women already referred to the service who are currently working with, or have previously worked with the Young Women’s Worker.
Our befrienders are unpaid volunteers willing to help in different ways such as:
• providing support to young women moving into their tenancy or returning to the community,
• encouraging the young women to become involved in their local community e.g. joining a group or class, going to college or getting a job,
• building self esteem and confidence,
• being a good listener when needed and providing advice and support,
• supporting those young women with children.
Outcomes
This service contributes to the Scottish Government’s National Outcomes.
