Become a foster carer and give a child a home where they get the care, support and encouragement they need to grow and develop.
what is fostering?
Fostering is a way of offering children and young people a home when their own family is unable to look after them. At Aberlour, we have an excellent reputation for caring for vulnerable and neglected children. With your help, we can assist many more. Our foster carers are all paid professionals who have chosen to look after children as a career.
Our foster carers are part of a very special team. Aberlour Fostering receives the backing of experienced social workers, family workers, therapists, teachers and health advisers to ensure that all aspects of a child’s needs are met.
Could you be part of our team and help fill the gap in a child’s life? We are looking for families and individuals who want to make a difference by becoming full-time or short-break foster carers. We urgently need foster carers from a wide range of backgrounds.
Our support is 24-7 and you’ll get regular visits from a social worker. You’ll receive a foster care fee of £1,958.58 a month, a monthly maintenance allowance of £839.56 and a set up allowance of up to £500 plus access to short breaks over the year.
The assessment involves completing a number of background checks and obtaining references. This includes an Enhanced Disclosure through Disclosure Scotland and requires potential foster carers to attend a medical with a G.P. You will also take part in individual interviews, training and preparation. This is all designed to build on your own experiences and allow you to understand the rewards and challenges of fostering.
