Aberlour has worked in the community of Govan for a number of years through our Youthpoint Project. Youthpoint helps children and young people living in areas where there can be high levels of deprivation, crime and drug use.
We’ve recently received funding through the Scottish Government’s Aspiring Communities fund to support the community of Govan to find long-term solutions and address local priorities and needs. The aim of the fund is to help build community assets and reduce poverty.
Over the last 5 months we’ve talked with a variety of groups including local businesses, secondary school pupils, older people, youth groups, parents of Youthpoint service users and partner agencies to gather their views on their local area through a questionnaire. We also worked with community members through consultation events, developing a large scale graphic of their hopes and dreams for Govan which you can see below.
We’ll be publishing the results of the survey in the coming weeks so please check back to find out more.
