- Early intervention
We help children and young people (aged 11-18) who need extra help with education. We support children with challenging behaviour, as a result of the complicated emotions they experience.
who we help
Our young people may have experienced trauma in their lives and feel that no-one understands them. Some have a chaotic home life, and are risk of being taken into care, far away from their own community. Others are already living in care, and experiencing the complicated feelings that come with it. All of these factors can cause a lot of stress and worry. In turn, this can make school a difficult environment to be in.
how we help with education
Aberlour Futures – Dumfries and Galloway helps young people with their education, by encouraging them to take control. Our young people’s workers give them the chance to shape the style and content of their education. For example, they can choose to get help with school work, alongside support with practical skills, activities, sports and arts and crafts. We give young people a trusted person they can talk to, as well as someone who can support them with their learning.
We have three bases – in Stranraer, Dumfries and Annan.
If you would like to refer a child or young person, please contact us at the relevant base using the details below.
