Intandem is a national mentoring program funded by the Scottish Government and managed by Inspiring Scotland. Aberlour is one of the chosen 13 charities to provide the intandem service across Scotland.
The intandem service recognises the value of positive relationships in the lives of children and young people. Aberlour recruits and trains dedicated volunteers, so they can be matched with a young person who is seeking support. By building a positive and trusting relationship with a young person, our volunteers can help in multiple capacities. Volunteers support young people to develop their confidence, feel more connected with the local community and set themselves personal goals.
We provide mentoring support to 8-14 year olds ‘looked after at home’ across Renfrewshire and Inverclyde. In other words, a young person who continues to stay at home while receiving additional support from the local authority for their continued care and protection.
Aberlour’s intandem programme is the holder of the Scottish Mentoring Network’s Quality Award; the best practice standard for mentoring programmes in Scotland.
Aberlour coordinates the intandem programme across Renfrewshire and Inverclyde. Therefore, we are looking for mentors in both areas who can inspire and support children and young people. If you are 18 or over and have some spare time each week or fortnight, you can make a difference in the life of a child.
In return, Aberlour will support you with high-quality training, practical experience, ongoing support and supervision. Also, you will have the opportunity to connect with our amazing volunteers across Scotland at social and recognition events.
