Aberlour Urgent Assistance Fund

Aberlour’s Urgent Assistance Fund can provide cash grants to help families with children (aged 21 and under) who are suffering extreme hardship.

Please note that as a result of the impact of the Coronavirus, there has been an overwhelming demand for the Urgent Assistance Fund and as a result it is much reduced. In order to help as many children and families across Scotland as we can, limited funds will be given for essential items only.

Applications must be endorsed and submitted by a sponsor, acting in their professional capacity. Examples of eligible sponsors include social workers, health care professionals, teachers, clergy, and third sector organisations.  Applications from individuals cannot be accepted.

This support is usually via cash grants to assist with a range of needs, such as food, utilities, clothing, bedding, appliance repairs, replacement of appliances that have failed, or other essentials.

Exclusions – please be aware when making your application that we do not make awards for carpets, floor coverings or electronic devices.

Please note, available funds are limited and all applications will be evaluated against evidence of a family’s financial status. If you receive an award after 1st June 2021 you will be unable to re-apply for 1 year or in some cases up to 2 years.

To qualify for cash grants from the Trust:

  • There must be a child in the family who is 21 or under.
  • That child must be suffering extreme hardship.
  • Grants are made at the discretion of the Trust.
  • A sponsor must submit a fully completed application via our web application form link below. If applications are incomplete, they may be rejected.

Please be advised that applications to the Urgent Assistance Fund are being reviewed in the order they are received, however, due to limited resources and high levels of demand it may take some time before we are able to respond.

The Scottish Child Payment opened for applications on Monday 9 November 2020. If you have a child who was under six on 15 February 2021 and you get certain benefits or tax credits, you could be due £40 Scottish Child Payment every four weeks per child .
