volunteer driver – moray

purpose and aims of the role

Could you help young people in Moray attend groups and after-school clubs?  Are you looking for an opportunity to contribute your time supporting young people to fulfil their potential?  We are looking for volunteer drivers to support our young people to attend groups and clubs at our service.

what will i be doing?

  • Driving young people to and from our service to allow them to participate in group activities and attend support meetings ensuring that travel is not a barrier for them
  • Supporting young people who are isolated due to travel restrictions to undertake new activities and to meet new friends
  • Helping young people who are in difficult circumstances to have fun and socialise with their own age group
  • Building young people’s confidence and self esteem
  • Being a positive role model
  • Supporting staff at outings
  • Reporting any and all relevant information regarding the young people you support to attend the service

what qualities do i need?

Knowledge or experience of working with children and young people

  • A knowledge of some of the issues affecting children and young people
  • Ability to communicate with children and young people
  • Good communication and listening skills
  • To have a non-judgemental approach and have empathy
  • To have a good value base, be open minded and level headed
  • To be a team player
  • Be enthusiastic, flexible and committed
  • Reliable and approachable
  • Friendly, helpful and understanding
  • To be reliable and have a commitment to treat all information in a confidential manner.

when will i be needed?

  • 2-3 hours per week
  • Minimum commitment of 6 months required.

what skills can i bring to this role?

  • Full UK driving licence with at least 12 months driving experience
  • Access to a car
  • After school, evenings or during school holidays

  • Induction and child protection training
  • Role specific training
  • Expenses – all out of pocket expenses and fuel will be reimbursed
  • Supervision and support from your manager / coordinator

Additional Information

Due to Health and Safety requirements you must be at least 18 years of age to undertake this volunteering role.

For all roles involving regulated work with children and/or protected adults, Aberlour will require the applicant to submit a PVG Scheme Record or a PVG Scheme Record Update application.  This opportunity is subject to the completion of satisfactory references and successful registration on the PVG Scheme.
