Purpose and Aims of the role

Could you spare a few hours per week to help with gardening?

Aberlour Family Service – Aberdeen provides a ‘core service’ to assess and support parents with a learning disability, who have children aged 0 – 12 years.  The Centre also provides an additional service called Families First.

what will i be doing?

  • Grass cutting
  • Tree / bush pruning
  • Clearing leaves
  • Weeding
  • Maintaining flower beds

what skills can i bring to this role?

  • Gardening skills
  • Growing flowers
  • Growing vegetable patches
  • Making a safe and sensory filled environment for children
  • Enjoys Gardening

what qualities do i need?

  • Be enthusiastic, flexible and committed

  • Reliability and a commitment to treat all information in a confidential manner
  • To have a good value base, be open minded and level headed

when will i be needed?

  • Flexible
  • 2-4 hours per week – weather and season dependant.


You will be volunteering with Aberlour Family Service in Aberdeen, 8 Sunnybank Road, AB24 3NG

what support will i be given?

  • Induction and child protection training
  • Role specific training
  • Expenses – all out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed
  • Supervision and support from your manager / coordinator

Additional Information

Due to Health and Safety requirements you must be at least 18 years of age to undertake this volunteering role.
