Aberlour Mentors are positive role models who provide support to children and young people in Scotland. They are enthusiastic in their approach to engaging looked-after children at home and can connect with children and young people on a one-to-one basis. Volunteer mentors at Aberlour can support vulnerable children and young people from as young as eight to 26.

At Aberlour we offer training and support to volunteers who want to become Mentors. The training for becoming a Mentor typically involves learning about the role and responsibilities of a Mentor, communication and listening skills, and understanding the importance of boundaries and confidentiality. You may also receive training on specific issues such as mental health or disability.
Firstly, you get the opportunity to make a real difference in someone's life. Mentoring can be incredibly rewarding, as you can see the positive impact you are making.
Secondly, being a Mentor can be a great way to develop new skills, such as communication, empathy, and problem-solving. You also get the chance to meet new people and make new friends.
