  • 100% feel they have been given the necessary training to carry out their role effectively
  • 98% feel that Aberlour helps them acquire new skills and knowledge

What our volunteers say about volunteering with us….

"Volunteering at Aberlour has been very fulfilling for me.  I have been teaching music ever since I first learned guitar at the age of 16, and it is really great to give young people the chance to do the same."
"To become a befriender Aberlour provided great training. It was in-depth, relevant, and interesting, including not only useful information on processes, issues, and challenges a newly arrived refugee might experience but also practical guidance on the befriending role. The session on planning trips was a definite highlight."
"My advice to someone that was thinking about applying for the role: there is a great support network at Aberlour; you would be really looked after in the role and if you have a spare couple of hours a week it would definitely be worth your time."

What we're about

Volunteering for Aberlour is rewarding. Whether, directly supporting children, young people and their families; raising vital funds; supporting our support services, or raising awareness, you'll make a huge difference to their lives across Scotland. You'll also learn new skills, gain valuable experience, meet new people and share your skills and qualities to help and support children, young people and families in your local community.

We've been doing this for over 140 years and we're good at it. We're very proud of our strong track record and we want the best volunteers to ensure we're still supporting children, young people and families for the next 140 years.

Our organisational values are very important to us – values that drive our support for children, young people and their families every day. These values are Respect, Integrity, Innovation and Challenge.

To become a volunteer, all you need is a kind and positive approach and a desire to help children, young people and families. We have roles that can fit in with your lifestyle, whether, you want to volunteer weekly, fortnightly or monthly, we'll give you all the training and support you need.
