Merry Christmas from Mast Architects

17 Dec 2014

Our wonderful corporate supporters, Mast Architects, who worked closely with Thenue Housing Association to design  our Family Support Service in Glasgow, have had a busy month involving all staff with their Christmas Appeal.

In choosing to support Aberlour, they are helping brighten the lives of Scotland’s most disadvantaged and vulnerable children and young people, who face major obstacles such as disability, exclusion, parental drug and alcohol dependency and family breakdown. So many of our families struggle to feed their children and are faced with huge fuel bills at this time of year. Christmas is a time of joy for many, but it can also be an especially difficult time for children who are living in crisis or facing family breakdown.

To start off their Christmas Appeal, 13 staff embraced the cold, wet December weather to take part in the Santa Dash 5k fun run. Thankfully, the weather improved and they had so much fun. It was a great team building event. Thanks to their fantastic efforts, the amazing sum of £1,700 was raised. What an incredible achievement!

In addition to this, they held a Christmas Jumper Day on Friday 12 December and donated the proceeds from this fundraiser, along with personal donations from staff who had decided not to send Christmas Cards this year, but donate to Aberlour instead.

Finally, Mast Architects very kindly handed in some beautiful gifts for our children and young people in Glasgow. They had their very own Christmas Giving Tree in the office and each bauble on the tree represented a local child that Aberlour is helping.

Morag McGown, Fundraising Executive at Aberlour, said:

“We are extremely grateful for Mast Architects’ wonderful support and help putting smiles on the faces of local children this Christmas.””
