In 2024, Aberlour's Mother and Child Recovery Houses have experienced continued growth and development, highlighted by the opening of our second house, The Burrow, in Falkirk. With the opening of The Burrow in September 2024, Aberlour has expanded its capacity to support more mothers and their children on their journey of discovery and growth.
With The Promise at the core of our work, we remain committed to loving, caring for, and empowering the voices of the women and children, while building a solid foundation of support around them. With attachment, self-efficacy and learning at the heart of all we do.
Our commitment to reducing drug-related deaths and the harms associated with drug and alcohol use in women remains steadfast. Although this journey is often complex, we continue to embed the MAT (Medically Assisted Treatment) standards and ROSC (Recovery Oriented System of Care) in our approach, offering kindness, compassion, respect, and dignity to support women as they deepen their recovery. As highlighted in Rights, Respect, and Recovery, we acknowledge that our support cannot be effective without taking a whole family approach and the involvement and commitment of wider family members is essential in supporting each woman's journey.
Additionally, working collaboratively with all partners is critical to this process, where we are all aiming to improve and save lives through safe, effective, accessible, and strengths-based care.
We hope this report provides you with valuable insight into the unique opportunities the families experience, as well as the opportunity to hear directly from the mothers and their children about the positive impact it has on their lives.
